Born in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil, Maso lived most of his life in São Paulo (RIP baiano accent — worth mentioning). He spent a year in Chicago, where he met people from different cultures and nationalities, shaping a broader perspective about people and adding to his experience. Now lives in Berlin, Germany, where he still hasn’t learned to speak German. Genau!
With early experience working in beer and sports, he initially thought his career would naturally follow that path. However, a desire to work abroad — and a call from Germany — shifted things a bit.
He was hired by Jung von Matt/Havel, a creative shop in Berlin, where he quickly became Head of Art. After a few projects, he received a Facebook message from Gabriel Mattar (FB has finally paid off), inviting him to join Innocean Berlin as Creative Director & Head of Art, with the mission of elevating the agency’s craft.
At Innocean Berlin, Maso helped structure and grow the design team while leading projects as Creative Director. Working side by side with Gabriel Mattar and Ricardo Wolff, he contributed to positioning Innocean Berlin as the 7th Independent Agency in the World (The Drum). Along the way, he gained deep automotive experience — something he had never imagined earlier in his career.
Before Germany, he worked at Santa Clara M&C Saatchi, where he helped Colorado Brewery wake Brazilians up with the “Desiberne” campaign — one of the projects that introduced craft beer to Brazil. That work caught the attention of Africa Creative, where he joined to work with Brahma Brewery (AB Inbev) on major projects, including the FIFA World Cup 2018. He also had the opportunity to collaborate with brands such as Budweiser and ESPN, and on a particularly special project celebrating 100 years of the NFL.
